1 Year Old, Family Photo Session | Wynwood Walls Photographer

I've said it probably dozens of times already on this blog, but one of my favorite things about being back in South Florida as a photographer, is that it allows me to reconnect with a ton of old friends.  Shanon & I were great friends through Middle School so to get to see her now as a beautiful mother (and wife) was so much fun.  The only real request for this session was lots of color... and judging by these photos, I'd definitely say we accomplished that.  We spent the morning in the unusually-quiet Wynwood, Miami & took advantage of all the amazing murals around 2nd street.  Its was so hard to pick our favorite walls to make stops at, but even harder to choose favorites from the photos to share.  Happy first birthday, Finley!  It was so great reconnecting with your mom (& meeting your dad)!

Family of 4 Holiday Photos | North Beach Park Hollywood

I love my annual check in with this family... And considering Jordan (who is now 5) has been taking part in these photo sessions since he was just 13 months old, he definitely knows the drill (he even directed the 2nd photo in this gallery - wanting to pose in the background of his sister).  We met at North Beach Park in Hollywood this year, which gave us great places to "explore" (& play find-the-grills) before ending up on the beach.  There was no doubt Jordan was going to be first in the water - It gave our family photo session a trash-the-dress-esque edge.  Ha.  Had a great time as always - love watching these two grow up!

Family of 4 Photo Session | Colee Hammock Park Photography

When its my first time meeting (& photographing) a family, I always do my best to explain my creative process a bit in the beginning.  It starts simple... "just be yourself", "engage with each other", "pretend I'm not here"... but after this past Sunday, I think Melissa & Josh might tell you it sounds much easier than it actually is.  I'm sure when they arrived at Colee Hammock Park Photo Sessions in Fort Lauderdale for family photos, they were probably not expecting to get a full workout complete with running, lifting, throwing, etc.  But good news... I don't charge extra for the unexpected calorie burn! ;)  I had such a blast with these girls, covering every inch of the waterfront park... pulling those natural smiles out from behind those shy, hiding faces I first met.  It was great to meet you all - I hope you enjoy the photos... full gallery coming soon!

Engagement Session | Tree Tops Park Photographer

Just six weeks prior, I had been a complete ball of nerves shooting photos of these two, knowing that Michele was about to pop the question.  But this time didn't involve any surprises... there was no diamond ring hidden in my camera bag... and we weren't in a race with Mother Nature.  Whew.  We met at Tree Tops this time, on a beautiful & surprisingly cool Sunday (okay, okay, "cool" meaning low 80s - this is South Florida, after all).  Everyone must have been taking advantage of the great weather because the park was very crowded... The good thing is that when you're with a couple who is so enthralled in each other & constantly making each other laugh, it seems like we were the only ones for miles.  Congrats again, Michele & Greter![tg_grid_gallery gallery_id="9158" layout="wide" columns="4"]

Surprise Proposal | Colee Hammock Park Photographer

It hadn't been a super nice Labor Day weekend - rain was coming & going all day.  By the time Michele & Greter arrived for their session at Colee Hammock Park in Fort Lauderdale, my weather app told me it was going to start raining in 23 minutes.  I suddenly realized that we needed to take full advantage of the late afternoon light & FAST... there was a lot to do.  While Greter thought the surprise was the impromptu photo session, Michele had me involved in something much bigger.  Hidden inside my camera bag was a beautiful diamond ring & I know Michele would not have lasted another day if rain tried to delay her plans.  Our timeline sped up quickly but before any rain fell, under a beautiful shade tree along Tarpon River, Michele got down on one knee.  Greter was completely shocked but glowed with excitement, wiping away happy tears, while I couldn't help but keep snapping.  Congratulations, ladies!!  It was so awesome to be a part of this day in your story... I can't wait for our follow up engagement session![tg_grid_gallery gallery_id="9162" layout="wide" columns="4"]

2 Year Old, 4 Month Old + Family | Tree Tops Park Holiday Photos

The third Tree Tops Park post in a row... and my last session there this holiday season - I can't believe how fast it flew by!  This great family and I met in an area of the park where there were at least 5 other photographers, most with full holiday prop set ups.  Every place I had shot at the weekend before was suddenly flooded with portrait sessions.  'Tis the season.  It was easy to work around, but also allowed me to appreciate being so mobile during photo sessions... (because sometimes a mid-session walk to the playground is totally necessary).  It was great meet these 4 - such adorable boys!
