Combining documentary photography & newborn photography seems like a no-brainer. For this momma, it meant not having to leave the house, plan anything or force the older siblings to sit still for poses, all while still capturing what life was like just 3 weeks after giving birth to their newest addition. I ended up with dozens of photos of these 2 older siblings loving on their new little brother so hard that it looks like I asked them to... but nope. All this snuggling, hugging & kissing happening was completely unprompted & judging by mom's reaction, it happens daily. Welcome to the world, baby Hank! Beautiful miss Alesandra was just 4 weeks old when I met her & of course her proud new parents were excited to show her off. We had a relaxed Sunday morning session at their home, which allowed us to integrate some personal items & show off some of the baby's nursery which was AMAZING. All the details worked together so perfectly, including the most adorable little lace onesie. Admittedly, my baby-fever was super strong for this newborn session... After a 100-mile drive across Southern Florida, including 6 gator sightings & a lot of swampy nothingness... I got to meet this little 7lb bundle of perfection. Preslee Rose was born just 11 days prior & I think its safe to say this day of photos (although the first of many, I'm sure) was her biggest, most active day yet. She was more interested in being in mommy or daddy's arms than sleeping or modeling anywhere solo, but that just meant a lot more photos of these new parents embracing their new, tiny bundle of joy - which was fine by me! Newborn lifestyle photos are all about allowing you to remember how your child once fit into your arms so perfectly & what it felt like in that first week of having her home... Another sweet baby boy on the blog... this time, just 12 days new! I'll be honest, when mom, Valerie, contacted me to tell me baby #3 was on his way, it had felt like no time had passed at all since I photographed her second baby at their home in Jupiter. But 12 days after sweet baby Parker arrived, I met the family in Jupiter for another session & out ran an adorable 2.5 year old to remind me that it *had* been a while since we last saw each other. The love both Tyler & 6-year old Gavin had for their new little brother was almost too much to handle. Faster than I could even get my camera out of my bag, the 2 big brothers swarmed to their brother, gently petting him, kissing him & looking at him like he was the best thing in the world. Congratulations to the entire proud family!!

And just like that, my baby fever has returned. Meet Jack. At the time of our session, he was just 18 days new. His parents graciously allowed me into their home to capture some of that brand-new-baby-goodness & I could not stop swooning at his cuteness. I mean, just look at those lips! And toes! And fingernails! (Okay, okay, I'll stop). One of my favorite parts of the morning was the way the brand new Mom & Dad looked at their son... and how he looked at them in return. Last Sunday, I went to John Lloyd Beach Park in Dania Beach and spent the day with some of the most contagious smiles ever. It had been about 2 years since I had last seen this family. In 2012, we met at the Dania Beach pier at sunrise when Ava was just 2 and RJ hadn't made his appearance yet. RJ has the same big personality his sister did at about that age, so these two smiles together can make anyone melt. The morning started out cloudy and drizzling, but we didn't let that affect our fun. We twirled, played games, raced, jumped... some of us even got tickle-attacked. Mornings like this are just reminders of how much I love what I do. I had a blast capturing these huge personalities in photos - looking forward to the next family shoot!

This is the third brand new baby boy to hit the blog, I feel like its been forever since I've done pictures for a baby girl. Something in the water? Its also another at-home session - I love the intimate element these home sessions can add to the photos. Tyler was born 4 weeks prior to our session, but similar to my previous newborn, he had yet to reach his due date, so he was still newborn-tiny. His big brother, Gavin (and even the family dog, Ditka) both watched over the new family addition with excitement as I took photos.

I couldn't believe it took me 3 weeks to finally get the chance to go meet baby Dylan (and see his GLOWING momma)! I was so happy to be able to capture some of the love that surrounds this new family of 3. Although 3 weeks old, Dylan's mini-session took place shortly before his expected arrival date, so he was still super newborn tiny... and his hair! His hair is SO soft (and clearly taken after his dad). Clearly he chose to sleep through most of the photos, but I had a great time. I'd love him to stay tiny forever, but I'll definitely enjoy watching him grow up!
15 Days Newborn Boy + 1.5 Year Old Big Sister | Ft Lauderdale Newborn Photographer
Newborn sessions can never really be predicted. This is why it's always best to do these photo sessions at the client's home - especially when there is an older sibling involved, since they always have their own space and toys to remain entertained. It's the second consecutive January where I got to meet a brand new baby boy named Jackson (or Jaxon). Jackson belongs to this great family, whose first baby, Avery, I got to photograph, not only when she was a newborn, but also at her first birthday party and then again just this past November during my holiday mini-sessions. This day, however, was all about Jackson Phoenix - just 15 days old. Unlike his older sister who remained awake and alert during all of her own newborn photos, Jackson made himself comfortable everywhere we moved him to. It was such a great morning hanging out with a great family and their brand new addition!
