morgan turns 3 | plantation woods party photographer
I’m tempted to name this post I LOVE TODDLERS because omg this was so much fun to shoot. To celebrate Morgan (my niece) turning 3, a few friends gathered at Plantation Woods Park for some splash pad, playground, pizza-and-cupcake-eating fun. Watching Morgan play with her 2 and 3 year old friends from school was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I had so much fun capturing all the shenanigans that I had to restrain myself for sharing the whole album with you all. I know it probably seems like I’m just constantly photographing her, but I rarely get to be invisible like this while doing so, which allows me to shoot in the true documentary style that I love so much. I can already tell year 3 is going to be a super amusing one to document.
extended family photos | volunteer park plantation photographer
It was clear that this family (who I’ve photographed before) knew just what they were getting into with a photo session with me when they rolled up to Volunteer Park in Plantation with a wagon full of snacks & drinks. We were a full-on parade of 14 marching around the park, as I brought them on a walk, stopping for photos along the way. It had been a couple of years since the last time I got to capture this whole extended-family group , so it was great to meet the newest cousin & catch up with all before the oldest cousin is off to college!
at-home family photography | plantation fl photographer
This was such a fun session… a great combination of gently posed portraits and then fun real-life candids. To celebrate their new house in Plantation, FL, it only made sense to do at-home family photos to create some super cute holiday / new address cards. After some family portraits in a few places around the house (and involving both dogs) I got to witness an intense family game of chess - something they love to do together often and then we ended the session with some nerf-guns and fun (read: cannonballs) in the swimming pool.
1 week old newborn boy | newborn photographer fort lauderdale
Another new arrival to announce! Meet brand new Wyatt Easton. Born just before Halloween, he was only 9 days old at the time of this at-home session with his two proud new parents. Congratulations, Erin & Jason! It was so great to meet Wyatt - he's perfect.
15 Days Newborn Boy + 1.5 Year Old Big Sister | Ft Lauderdale Newborn Photographer
Newborn sessions can never really be predicted. This is why it's always best to do these photo sessions at the client's home - especially when there is an older sibling involved, since they always have their own space and toys to remain entertained. It's the second consecutive January where I got to meet a brand new baby boy named Jackson (or Jaxon). Jackson belongs to this great family, whose first baby, Avery, I got to photograph, not only when she was a newborn, but also at her first birthday party and then again just this past November during my holiday mini-sessions. This day, however, was all about Jackson Phoenix - just 15 days old. Unlike his older sister who remained awake and alert during all of her own newborn photos, Jackson made himself comfortable everywhere we moved him to. It was such a great morning hanging out with a great family and their brand new addition!
3 Weeks Newborn Girl | Fort Lauderdale Newborn Photographer
Meet Avery Willow... just three weeks old when she made her modeling debut with me. When it comes to newborn photography, you can never try to prepare too much. I always shoot to start my sessions right after a morning feeding, so the baby will be nice and sleepy during photos. Not all people are really looking for that popular sleeping-baby photo set that you see all the time, but the truth is (and no surprise)... its just easier to take photos when they're sleeping because they're happy, content and still. While setting up and getting started, it quickly became clear that Avery was not going to sleep through any of this fun. Normally, that could mean a difficult, long session with lots of soothing-baby breaks... but that was definitely not the case here. She was wide awake but so completely happy. At just three weeks old, she seemed so aware of my camera and was almost posing herself, shot after shot. She'd start to squirm... I'd lift my camera and point the lens her way... and she'd quickly stop moving and stare, waiting for me to get exactly what I needed. With 2 ecstatic brand new parents... 4 proud new grandparents... and one very supportive greyhound... Avery soaked up the spotlight and seemed to enjoy every second of it.
