Newborn sessions can never really be predicted. This is why it's always best to do these photo sessions at the client's home - especially when there is an older sibling involved, since they always have their own space and toys to remain entertained. It's the second consecutive January where I got to meet a brand new baby boy named Jackson (or Jaxon). Jackson belongs to this great family, whose first baby, Avery, I got to photograph, not only when she was a newborn, but also at her first birthday party and then again just this past November during my holiday mini-sessions. This day, however, was all about Jackson Phoenix - just 15 days old. Unlike his older sister who remained awake and alert during all of her own newborn photos, Jackson made himself comfortable everywhere we moved him to. It was such a great morning hanging out with a great family and their brand new addition!

3 Year Old Boy, 10 Month Baby Girl - Family Session | Ft Lauderdale Family Photographer
Another family that I LOVE to grow with! I first met Jordan, then just 13 months old, back in 2011 when I took photos of him and his parents at Volunteer Park in Plantation, Fl. Fast forward to the same time of year in 2012, when I took family photos of him, his dad and his then pregnant mom at South Beach Park on Ft Lauderdale Beach. Now it's November again and I get to spend the morning with this great family again... this time, a family of FOUR! Kylie is now 10 months old and already has the same great personality as her big brother. For this year's pre-holiday photo session, we met at Tree Tops Park in Davie, Fl. Jordan does a great job of acting like he doesn't want his photo taken while we were in the process... but then still steals the show with that giant smile. He even got a short photography lesson and took some shots of his own using my backup camera. As usual, it was very difficult to narrow down my favorites of this shoot, but here are just a few...
Family Mini Sessions, Tree Tops Park | Davie Family Photographer
Every year, I try to offer at least one or two days of mini-sessions before the holidays. This allows me to provide an inexpensive, low-hassle way for you to get your updated family photos for your Christmas cards - without having to do any real planning at all. I choose the location and afternoon, you choose your time slot. To make sure each family gets the right attention (and to prevent complete exhaustion), I only offer a very limited number of spots each day, so these sessions book very quickly! This year, four families joined me at Tree Tops Park in Davie, Fl for their own 30 minute family session. I got to hang out with 5 kids, 2 teenagers and 7 adults... and shoot family photos at one of my favorite spots in Tree Tops Park with perfect light! I love letting the sunlight fill my frame to capture its direct relationship with my subjects... in hopes that I can capture it in a way you may not even realize it exists. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day... (and if you want to be notified about any upcoming mini-session dates, sign up for email alerts!)
Part 2, Baby's First Year Package | Fort Lauderdale Baby Photography
There's a reason why I discount my sessions so much when you book a baby's first year package... its because I LOVE growing up with families, especially in this first year of a child's life. Its great to get to watch a 2 week old baby quickly grow into a little boy - the fact that I get to document it all in photos too is just an added bonus! Little Jaxon was born back in January, where I shot photos of him as a 15 day old newborn with his family. Now halfway through his first year of life, we met again for part 2 of the baby's first year package - this time at a neighborhood park.
1 Year Old Girl, Party + Cake Smash | South Florida Baby Photographer
You might remember these beautiful blue eyes from a year ago when I took at-home newborn photos of Avery and her family. Somehow an entire year has passed and the family celebrated her 1st birthday perfectly at Plantation Woods park in Plantation, Fl. I loved the first birthday chalkboard with Avery stats and likes... and the month-by-month Instagram photos which served as the perfect decoration. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, this was Celebrate Avery Day!
15 Days New Baby Boy | South Florida Newborn Photographer
Meet Jaxon Avery... the newest addition to the cutest family of 4 - who happened to have made the Chicago-to-South-Florida move almost around the same time I did. I traveled to their home in Palm Beach Gardens for this indoor newborn shoot, just 15 days after Jaxon was born. Between feedings and tears and naps, I captured as many teeny-tiny newborn features that I could. Every parent will tell you, the time goes by way too fast when they're that small... and they're definitely never going to be that small again. Not only do I focus on the details, but I also always include the parents' hands and things in some of the photos, just to really show you how tiny your little baby once was. Three year old, Dylan, was already stepping into the big brother role, as well as stealing some of the spotlight because I simply can not resist his contagious smile. This family booked a First-Year-Package to make sure they capture as much as possible of Jaxon's first 365 days of life. We'll be doing another session at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months - so be prepared to see this little face again and again around here!
1.5 Year Old - Family of 3 | Tree Tops Park Photographer
Sometimes I get so behind on blogging recent photos, that I think... maybe I'll just do a mishmash post of a bunch of favorites from the past 10 photo sessions. Sounds easy right? Then I start digging through recent photos and my complete indecisive nature takes over and I can't even chose which photos to feature from which family session. So instead, I'm taking a moment to give this too-beautiful-for-words family their own blog feature - again. And there's a reason for it. We first met Noah almost two years ago (as seen HERE)... and since then, I've taken some quick shots for holidays, carried my camera along for a few candids here and there, etc... but it wasn't until this December, that I got to do a whole full session again with these guys. It was my last session in 2012 and a great way to close out the year. Noah will be 2 in May (TWO!), which of course is going to call for another set of photos - so I definitely had to make sure to get these up here first. These were taken in Tree Tops Park in Davie, on a hot but perfectly-partly-cloudy South Florida "winter" evening.PS - I dare you to not fall in love with these curls.
2 Year Old Boy, Maternity - Family of 3 | Fort Lauderdale Beach Family Portraits Photographer
Remember this face? Almost exactly one year ago, I spent the day with Jordan and his parents at Volunteer Park in Sunrise (seen HERE), shortly after his first birthday... which would make him two now. Yep, I can also do math. This time, we met at Fort Lauderdale beach - by the South Beach Park and the Sheraton Hotel, aka Yankee Clipper. You might notice that Jordan had a wardrobe change halfway through the session... well, actually it was probably more like 15 minutes into the session. Two year olds are always drawn to the ocean. Pretty instantly. I usually save the 'let the kids get wet and messy' photos for the end, but in this case, it was a nice start to a BEAUTIFUL morning in South Florida. I smiled the entire time I was editing this set - Jordan's smile is still very much contagious. Love catching up with this family every year... by next session, this family of three will be a family of four!
2 Year Old Girl, Maternity - Family of 3 | Dania Beach Family Photographer
I spent this past Saturday morning with this adorable family on Dania Beach. Heather is expecting her second child and wanted to do something a little different than the typical studio maternity photos this time, so we did a full family session. When we met at the beach, I gave them one important instruction... to simply have fun - I was just going to hang around to document it. Two year old Ava must have heard me loud and clear, because she seemed to have a blast from start to finish. I can almost hear her laugh coming through some of these images. You can definitely tell she's excited to be a big sister!I had such hard time narrowing down my favorites, but here are just a few...
